A skipless record is a specially formatted 12" vinyl intended for use by skratch DJs to minimise the effect of unwanted needle jumping. The samples on a skipless record are looped in such a way that even if the needle jumps out of the groove it will return to the same position on the record. Skipless records allow for near fearless skratching in most conditions, greatly reducing incidents of missed cues and inappropriate sample placement.
To a turntablist, a skipless record is an everyday record - a record to batter in daily freestyle practice and is the must-have record in a live setting. It allows for more carefree improvisation, diminishing the physical barrier between the artist and the creation of sound.
